Accommodations

We will stay in beautiful hotels and resorts in Bhutan and Nepal, offering comfort and cultural authenticity.
Please note: Our accommodations are rated 3 to 4 stars and are based on double occupancy.

 

Food

All meals are included in the trip price. Breakfast and most dinners will be served in our hotels, while lunches will often be at local restaurants or enjoyed as picnic meals during hikes. Meals are typically buffet-style, featuring a variety of Bhutanese, Indian, and Chinese dishes. Vegetarian options are readily available.

A typical breakfast may include cereal and milk, pancakes (sometimes made from buckwheat), omelets, fried potatoes, and seasonal fruits. Dinners will often be in local restaurants or even in the homes of families we have close relationships with, offering an authentic cultural experience. Dinner may include rice, noodles, asparagus or cauliflower, a meat entrée (often chicken), and ema datse—Bhutan’s famous spicy chili cheese dish.

Beverages: Beer is typically available for purchase with lunch and dinner, though wine selections are limited. Please note that alcoholic beverages are not included in the trip price. 

 

Trip Comfort Level

This journey blends hiking, cultural exploration, culinary experiences, and introspection. The hikes are moderate, and anyone in good physical condition comfortable walking on trails for up to two hours will enjoy this adventure.

  • Prices are for double-occupancy rooms; limited single-occupancy rooms are available for an additional $900 to $1100.
  • All prices are in US Dollars.
  • Accepted payment methods: Personal checks, cash, or bank transfers (no additional fees for US transactions).
  • Credit card payments will incur a 3.5% surcharge.
  • International bank transfers are subject to additional bank fees.

What’s Not Included:

  • Personal, medical, or trip cancellation insurance (required!)
  • Flights before arrival in Bhutan and the domestic flight (see details below)
  • Single-room upgrades
  • Additional nights before or after the tour dates, if needed
  • Excess baggage fees on the flight to Bhutan from Paro
  • Phone calls (most places offer free Wi-Fi; charges apply if calling from areas without Wi-Fi)
  • Personal expenses, including laundry, medical costs, etc.
  • Optional activities, such as rafting, bicycling, hot stone bath, etc.
  • Entry fees to certain monasteries, museums, temples, etc.

Gratuities

Gratuities are collected to honor the dedication of our guides, drivers, and behind-the-scenes angels who will be attending to our every need throughout our 15/18-day journey. We kindly ask each participant to bring $300 USD in cash in a separate envelope, which will be collected at the beginning of the trip.

Optional Monastery Donations: When visiting sacred sites, it is customary to offer a small contribution to support the well-being of the space. Please ensure you have small bills for these donations when exchanging money.

 

Airfare – Secure Your Seat Now!

Flights to Bhutan are limited, and it is absolutely essential to book your tickets as soon as possible to guarantee your space on this journey with Kutira. Bhutan restricts access to only a few select airlines, and we will be traveling during a major festivals in October-November, making flights highly sought after. This is the absolute highest season of the year!

There are only a limited number of tickets available, so securing your seat on Druk Air (Bhutan’s national airline, where “Druk” means Dragon) is imperative. Druk Air offers only a 10% cancellation fee, allowing you to adjust your trip, if needed. However, delaying your booking could result in no seats being available!

Bangkok – Paro – Bangkok (Roundtrip):

  • Business Class: ~ $1,300.00
  • Economy: ~ $900

One-Way Flights:

  • Bangkok – Paro: Business ~ $700/ Economy ~ $400
  • Paro – Kathmandu: Business ~ $400 / Economy ~ $250

If you need assistance booking flights from Kathmandu back to Bangkok or another destination, my office is happy to help.There are also direct flights from Singapore, Dubai, and Delhi. Participant from Asia can fly via Bangkok and Singapore. However, not all on the same day!
